DISABLED ACCESS

Access for disabled visitors is possible to all parts of site that are open to the public.

Disabled drivers may park in Mill Close adjacent to the Museum site (please do not block or park in residents' driveways).

Some parts of the Museum buildings can only be accessed by short and straight staircases.
We have permanently fixed stair-lifts in the 3 buildings with an upper floor. These are available for use by anyone who has difficulty with stairs. Please ask any member of Museum staff if you would like to use this facility.

The toilet block is easily accessed by disabled persons and includes a dedicated cubicle designed for wheelchair users.

The Windmill has narrow, steep ladders to each floor. Due to its shape, size and the location of permanently fixed machinery, disabled access to any part of the Mill other than the ground floor is unlikely to be possible for the foreseeable future. Photographs and detailed diagrams of the upper floors are available (photos and video clips available on this website).

We have a Stair-Climber chair for donation to another charity or organisation. For details click here.
